Description
Now you and your friends/family can play an authentic Wheel of Fortune game in your own home, thanks to this PowerPoint! Create your own puzzles, keep track of score, and of course, spin the wheel, all within the presentation!
  • Use a built-in editor to make and play puzzles with ease
  • Play multiple rounds from the game show, including the mystery and bonus round
  • Animate the stage, and toggle the backdrop of your choice
  • Quickly keep score with Quick Add and dedicated buy vowel/transfer totals buttons
  • Open source VBA so you know this is safe to use
This template is one of my most popular downloads to date, with over 35,000 downloads as of this writing. Thank you all for your support!

Compatible with PowerPoint 2007 or newer for Windows, and PowerPoint 2011 or newer for Mac.  When prompted, you'll need to enable active content and editing of this presentation, which is what allows you to edit the puzzle board and other gameplay elements. Wheel of Fortune will NOT work on PowerPoint Viewer because it lacks support for active content.

The wheel graphics were created by wheelgenius, used with permission.

    1. Wow, this means a lot to me! I'm glad you used this for your Christmas gameshow night. And you are correct, I do have over a thousand downloads now, 5000+ to be exact. Wow!

By the way, I am preparing a massive update to this template, so if you thought this was the best template you've found, think again. I'm hoping to upload it tomorrow with release notes. Stay tuned!

    1. Hi Cory. I'm glad you enjoyed this project! The current version posted IS the massive update I was working on. It was supposed to be released in 2012, but I procrastinated until this year to complete it. You can read more about my jubilation here:

I hope all the features I added from that massive update benefited you while you used the game.

  4. Hi, I love this template but do you have the wheel of fortune just numbered not with $, as I'm doing a presentation in the UK. thanks, Alice

    1. Hi Alice. I can't remove the $ signs from the wheel since I didn't create the wheel image. However, you CAN remove the $ signs from the scoreboard. If you're using v2.0 or newer, the $ signs are in separate text boxes that can easily be removed using PowerPoint's edit view.

Keep in mind that this Wheel of Fortune template was designed strictly for the U.S. version. Even without the $ signs, the numbers might feel out of place as the British pound's value differs from the U.S. dollar.

      Hope this helps!

  5. i tried to download it and it says that it needs to be repaired, can you please help me.

    1. Denise, is the repair problem happening only to this file, or does it happen with any other PPT document you open?

For instance, let me know if the older versions of Wheel of Fortune work for you. You can find them in the Archive tab. Thanks.

  7. Gosh I would love to use this, but I don't see a way to edit the white squares to create my puzzle. The whole puzzle board is just one big picture. Any hints?

    1. Hi Anne. I assume you found out that clicking the top of each tile makes them white and that you enabled Active Controls, right?

The way this template works is that you have to have the solution to the puzzle somewhere in your head or written down on a solution card. You set up the puzzle board by lighting up the necessary tiles, and during the game, you fill in these tiles with the letters.

There currently isn't a way to pre-program the puzzle board with puzzles. That would take some insane VBA skills to pull off.

      I hope this helps!

  8. Awesome! I see you've made some progress with VBA! There are some code optimisations you could make though - try exploring array variables and iteration structures. But great effort so far!

  9. Wow I am an ESL teacher and I can definitely use this in the classroom! This is great. Thanks!!

  10. Hello, I'm trying to set this up for a work training, and for whatever reason, when I click the tile, it does not turn white, it just turns into a white outline. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! :)

    1. Hello, I'm not near my computer at the moment, but I'll do my best to help you.

      - What version of PowerPoint are you using? Do you have active controls enabled?
      - Are you clicking on the top of the tile? The cursor should change to two arrows pointing out.
      - If you can send a screenshot of the tile changing to a white outline, that'd be great. Perhaps you can use imgur or some other image site.

      Thanks.

  11. Thank you very much for sharing this. I just bought one like yours last week and it's not even as good as yours. Keep up the good works.
Also, is it possible to add sounds to the wheel and the wrong and correct answer sounds. I downloaded some game sounds and can send it to you.
Finally, I'm in Japan and my students are low level students, do you think it can be possible to make the wheel with lesser amounts, say $50,$100 and $200? Cheers.

  12. Hello! This is very brilliant. I'm trying to use this game for our school presentation however I can't use the wheel properly. Every time I click it to stop, it just keeps spinning. I wish you could help me with this. Thank you very much!

  13. Hi, I would love to use this for a group presentation the topic is on Humble Inquiry – The Gentle Art of Asking instead of Telling. How can I change the numbers on the wheel. I tried adding my own images but how do I get them to spin with it? I'm trying to change the animation on slide but still can't figure out how to get it to spin and stop with the wheel. If you can help me out that would be great. thank you for sharing.

    1. Have you tried clicking on one of the wheels and using Change Picture in the Format ribbon tab? That way, you can directly add your own wheel images without re-animating the spins.

  14. Trying to run with OpenOffice Impress. I know in Power Point it's compatible with macro's enabled. Is it possible to get this to work in OpenOffice by running/enabling/creating a macro? And, if it does need a macro to be created, does anyone happen to have a template so I don't have to write the whole thing, need it for a work activity.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Unfortunately, Wheel of Fortune for PowerPoint does not support LibreOffice Impress for more reasons than macros. I've actually been doing research on a separate version for LibreOffice, but I can't give any guarantees; the fact that there's a bug that causes the spin animation to not repeat isn't a good sign.

I have however started working on LibreOffice projects. My first, Bingo Master Board PLUS, was released this week and is available to download if you want to try that.

  17. Hey, man, awesome Wheel PPT! Thank you very much! Is there any way to easily modify it so that it spins and stops by itself like the real wheel does? Also, any easy way to add sounds? Thanks a lot, man.

    1. John, thanks for the compliments. It appears possible to add both features you mentioned, but they both require VBA edits. I'll consider sounds and a wheel that spins and stops by itself for a future release. Can't say if or when since I work on this during my spare time.
